It is not a difficult thing for a person to decide to join a weight loss program. The most challenge part is how to keep motivated in the weight loss program, especially when you come to a stage when plateaus occur in your weight loss program.
Besides understand the reason for weight loss plateau, you may take early arrangement by developing a strategy for the whole healthy weight loss program while you are still in your losing phase. Remember, the earlier you start practicing them, the higher chances of your successful rate in your healthy weight loss program.
One of the best ways to keep you motivated in the weight loss program is keeping a daily eating record. You may come across with this words for don’t know how many times, yet I need to repeat it here as it is the most important thing in any healthy weight loss program. In fact, it is probably the one technique that every nutrition specialist or weight loss consultant, no matter where they stand on the diet program, will recommend.
Here are the benefits of having your daily eating records in a weight loss program:
- Keep eating records allow you to understand your diet habit that brings you to the current weight situation. Believe me, if you are overweight, you are most probably eating too much.
- It allows you to track back what diet is working and what is not because you can know very clearly that how changes in your eating behavior affect the changes in your weight. Besides, you can check back whether you are overeating or under eating, because neither of them are healthy ways.
- It makes you more accountable to the weight loss program when you decide to keep eating records. Write down everything you eat needs courage, especially in the initial stage.
- It makes you more aware of what you want to put in your mouth. As a result, you may cancel what you previously did – put some food into your mouth anytime you like.
Some of friends do keep eating records but in the wrong way. This makes them hardly to track back and the eating records seem meaningless for any analysis. A good eating record in a weight loss program needs to have at least below 4 particulars:
- Types of food eat: Whether are vegetables, carbohydrates, protein, fruits and/or fat. You need to classify the food you eat so that you will not over eat any type of food. In a healthy weight loss program, you are always recommended to consume a well balanced diet, such as “3333” diet habit recommended in the calculate calories article.
- Description of the food: If you eat a burger, please mention what type of burger it is, besides write down all the ingredients like egg, cheese and etc.
- Quantity eaten: Mention specifically the size. For example, how many cups of the fruits you eat. For convenience purpose, you can use your palm for measuring as recommended in my calculate calories article. Avoid using the word of “little bit”, “few”, “several”, “a box”, “a bottle” and etc. If you eat 5 pieces of potato chips, just write 5 pieces of potato chips with the brand name. If you eat a box of ice-cream, please mention the size of the box and the brand name too. Remember, the more specific the information you write down, the better it helps in your weight loss program.
- Cooking methods: Whether is steam, deep- fried, barbeque, broil or baked leads to different results in your weight loss results. The best way of having a food for a healthy weight loss program includes steam, cook, broil, mix and boil.
The more you put effort in keeping the eating record, the less chances you will give up in any weight loss program. Just imagine you are in an upset mood today. Without the habit of keeping any eating record, you might start to eat, like usually you did before. But now you have something to hold you off from eating, and this is the eating records.
Slim down is a wonderful experience. You will be surprised when you refer back the records after you slim down in your healthy weight loss program. And you will not believe you could eat so much and unhealthy food in previous time. Keep the eating record with you and it will motivate you especially when you are down. And you know every effort you pay will worthwhile pay back. One thing to remember, you do not have to do keep eating records forever, as you succeed losing extra pounds in your weight loss program and build a healthy diet habit in your life.
