If you have a commitment that involves another people in a weight loss program, you are more accountable, and most probably you will actually DO it. By saying out the goals you want to achieve to another person, your words are given a greater reality than just make a vague promise to yourself.
2) Join a Support Community and Forum Online
Internet appears to be a good way for people with similar interest to form a community of support and information sharing. You can also join a forum discussing about healthy weight loss. Just spend some time searching the suitable support or forum and join them. You will find out there are lots of people out there who have succeeded losing weight and it will definitely motivate you from time to time. If one day you happen to feel blue, look at some of their before and after pictures, and you will be motivated and gain back confidence in your weight loss program.
3) Encourage Yourself in front of the Mirror
We are human beings. So, allow yourself make mistake and forgive yourself. Please do not blame and angry with yourself if you lapse from your diet weight loss program. You have a better choice. Just stand in front of the mirror, look straight to the image’s eyes and say out encouragement or affirmation loudly to the image. For example, you may say in this way: “If you are really serious in losing weight, then do the right thing, once at a time. You are not a child, so take responsibility for yourself. You can do it if you really want and I believe you can do it.” And do not forget to praise yourself in front of the mirror whenever you succeed do the correct thing.
4) Expect Weight Loss Plateau
Anyone who is in a weight loss program will experience plateau, soon or later. It is a natural part in a healthy weight loss. Remember, your weight does not decrease in a straight line, from high to low when time goes by. Instead, the weight decreases like a stair case pattern. The horizontal line in the stair case pattern is referred as the stage of plateau. Just accept it because it simply reflects your body’s way of reprogramming itself. Understand this and you won’t be unmotivated when you face the plateau.
5) Reward yourself a Non food Treat
You need to adjust your lifestyle if you want to succeed in any weight loss program. Previously, you use to reward yourself a good meal or good food whenever you like. Now you are on diet program and what you can do is replacing the old habit with a new habit. It does not mean that you cannot enjoy good meal at all, just you need to increase your repertoire of things that can make you feeling good besides food. For example, reward yourself a concert, a holiday, a new branded dress or watch for reaching a particular weight loss goal. Just anything you like besides food. And you will be highly motivated to get the desired weight loss results.
Remember, weight loss is not a difficult thing, as long as you do not give up in the whole progress of the program. That is why you need to keep yourself motivated in the weight loss program.
