a exercise 5 5 Weight Loss Myths You Might Not KnowBefore you jump into any program for weight loss, you must clearly identify some weight loss myths people used to think.  Below are the top 5 weight loss myths you might not know:

Weight Loss Myth # 1: Being Fat Because of Slow Metabolic Rate
Some of the overweight people claim that they have slow metabolic rate.  If you get your calculated BMR after understanding weight loss concept, you will know overweight people have a higher metabolic rate than a normal body weight range people.

Research from Obesity Research Center revealed that total calories consumed by most of the obese people were underestimated by 50%.  The real reason of being obese is they put more calories into their mouth than calories intake they think they are.

Weight Loss Myth # 2: Eat Very Little But Still Overweight
This is most of my friend tells me about their overweight issue.  One of my friends with weight of 62kg tells me she takes only 2 pieces of bread every morning, no lunch and normal dinner. She eat so less and yet being overweight.  Can you guess what have been found out when I check her average daily calories intake?

Breakfast (around 500 calories):
350ml of mixed juice (about 180 calories): ignored by her
1 cup of two-in-one instant coffee (100 calories): ignored by her
2 pieces of bread (160 calories)
Bread topping of 1/2 tablespoon butter (50 calories) and sugar: ignored by her

Lunch or tea break(estimated 400 to 600 calories):
Take some junk food which cannot be identified: calories ignored by her
3 to 4 pieces of oat crackers (around 200 calories): ignored by her
1 cup of two-in-one instant coffee (100 calories): ignored by her
Sometimes some deep fried foods: calories not counted here

Dinner (estimated 700 to 900 calories):
Very little rice which cannot be identified how little: calories ignored by her
4 dishes (2 meat dishes, 1vegetables dish and 1 type of soup ): Number of servings not known as she refuse to give the servings information
(Note: she is always the one who finish all the dishes to avoid waste)

This is the so called “eat less” for a female with aged of 38 years old and height of 150cm.  Obviously, she ignores liquid calories and assumes that improper lunch does not contain calories. As a consequence, it is fair for her to take a heavier meal at dinner because she eats so little throughout the day.  So, please get some eating tips for weight loss to build better diet habit before any program for weight loss.

Next time when you hear somebody say they eat very little, ask them to write down all the food they consume at a piece of paper.  Believe me, if you are overweight, you are over consuming food, not matter you aware or not.  If you feel hardly to recognize number of food servings, a simple guideline from “how to get started if you want to lose weight” article might help.

Weight Loss Myth # 3: Fat Free or Low Fat Foods Contain No Calories
Fat-free or low-fat food does not mean calories free.  Usually, these fat-free foods are replaced with sugar and other carbohydrate that eventually will convert to fats.  If you think fat-free foods contains less calories and consume more of them, you will end up consume more calories.  For example, 2 pieces of Milano biscuits with 8gm of fats contain 140 calories and 2 pieces of fat-free Archway biscuits contain 140 calories too.  If you treat fat-free equals to calories free and have 4 pieces of Acrhway biscuits, then you will double up your calories intake at that time.

Weight Loss Myth # 4: Being Fat is Genetic Issue
Study from a professor from Baylor College, who is specialized in obesity research reveals that only 25% of over weight issue is due to genetic issue.   This mean 75% of over weight issue is due to environmental factor and thus is within your control.  The overweight parents will have overweight kids is mainly because they have built the same diet habit and lifestyle, and generally they are lack of exercises.

We have to admit that metabolic rate of a person is affected partly by genetic issue. Anyway, with correct lifestyle including right exercise, food and nutrition, 2 different obese adults with same weight, height and age can enjoy weight loss results even though at different weight loss speed in a program for weight loss.

Weight Loss Myth # 5: Overweight Due To Huge Bone Structure
Some people claim that they have huge bone frame or structure.  Yes, they might have larger bone structure but this is not a good reason to make you overweight.  Just imagine 2 female of same height of 160cm with body weight of 52kg and 64kg respectively:  Do you think that the difference of body weight is due to the bone weight itself?

Please be honest, it is your diet habit and lifestyle, not your huge bone structure that make you overweight.

If you fall into weight loss myth, you might ignore the real overweight reason behind and thus cost you a higher price in losing weight.  After understanding the weight loss myth, you can implement your weight loss plans accordingly.
