Eating Smart For Healthy Weight LossIf you understand the weight loss concept, eating smart always plays an important role in healthy weight loss besides performing right weight loss exercise.  In fact, you can have the optimal results for healthy weight loss purpose if you include both dieting and exercising in your weight loss plan.

Eating Smart Tip #1: Roast the vegetables

One of the great eating smart tips is roast the vegetables instead of steam them.  Even the most ardent anti-vegetable person is won over a plate of roasted vegetables.  Try it.  Take a bunch of vegetables, including all kind of peppers and root vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, beets and onions, cut them up and arrange them in a roasting pan.  Drizzle with olive oil and put them in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes.  You will be amazed with the sweetness and flavor you never know existed from the roasting.  Of course, you need to know that olive oil is oil, and it carries 120 calories per tablespoon.  Anyway, it is acceptable as long as your total daily calorie intake is within your consumption amount for healthy weight loss purpose.

Eating Smart Tip #2: Include flex seeds in your diet

Flex seeds, as opposed to flax seed oil are an important source of fiber, which is not only protective against diseases like colon cancer but also demonstrably related to healthy weight loss.  As we know, fiber blunts blood sugar response and adds to a fullness feeling.  More than a dozen clinical studies demonstrate the effect of fiber on weight loss.  You can get more information about consuming high fiber in my weight loss article.  Apart from that, flax seeds are one of the best sources of the omega-3 fats, which have documented heart-protective effects as well as being anti-inflammatory.  As such, freshly ground flax seeds are a great addition to your healthy weight loss program.

Eating Smart Tip #3: Consume sardines

A can of Sardines is a quick, easy, inexpensive source of first class protein and omega-3 fats, especially suit for those who are packed with busy schedule.  You can eat sardines with some whole wheat bread as a meal.  If you are in somewhat more relaxed circumstances, then sardines over any kind of green salad plus a serving of fruit make the perfect healthy weight loss diet.  The best kind of sardines is those that packed in sardine oil.  Do not buy the kind on soybean or cotton seed oils, as they contain too much of omega-6 fats.

Eating Smart Tip # 4: Read label and be familiar with different form of sugar

We know that manufacturers are required to list ingredients in the order of amount.  The first ingredient represents the largest proportion of the product, and the last ingredient is made up by the lowest proportion. To have a better presentation of the ingredient, most manufactures do not list sugar as the key ingredient, even though it is a fact.  So, what they do is they label their products with small amounts of a ton of different form of sugar such as sucrose, glucose, corn sweetener, corn syrup, fructose, lactose, invert sugar, concentrated fruit juice, sorbitol, xylitol, mannitol, barley malt, malt extract and the worst of all, high fructose corn syrup.

By putting in small amounts of a mix of these different types of sugar, the manufacturers can legally disguise the fact that the key ingredient in the packaged food you are buying is SUGAR!  If you want to know how many teaspoons of added sugar in the food you are buying, you can divide the number of grams of sugar at the label by 4.  You will be surprised to find that some cereals has 7 teaspoons of sugar per serving, and those serving sizes are really tiny for you to consume.  So, be a sugar detective and read label for healthy weight loss purpose.

Eating Smart Tip # 5: Shop for color
One of the best eating smart tips is shop for color, especially for those who feel hard to memorize a whole bunch of antioxidants and phytochemicals.  Isn’t it easier to get all colorful fruits and vegetables on the checkout counter? Of course, it should be overflowing in greens, reds, oranges and even blues as they are natural antioxidants that serve a similar purpose in your body.  If everything you buy is the color of cardboard, that means you are doing something wrong.

In fact, eating smart is a life learning knowledge, and we need to do some revision on the knowledge as human being tend to forget thing that already known.  Practice a tip once and gradually add some tips on top of it, and you can enjoy losing weight in a healthy way.
