Exercise Motivation Tips
Everybody agrees that exercise is healthy. Most people say they want to exercise more… but few actually get to. With such busy lives, it is hard to find the time and energy to do some workout. That is why I have thought that putting together a list of motivation tips would be helpful to many people.
Think of all the health benefits of exercise! Regular exercise can help protect you from high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, noninsulin-dependent diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity, back pain and some forms of cancer. Exercise can also help relieve pain from headaches, lower back, joints, fibromyalgia, pulled muscles and other conditions, because it stimulates the release of endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that minimize pain. Endorphins also have the effect of elevating the mood, so no wonder people say that exercising helps them relieve stress and get a general feeling of well-being.
Make it interesting and enjoyable! Do something you like. The gym isn’t for anyone. If you like outdoor activities better, such as tennis, roller blading, bike riding or any other form of exercise that you enjoy, go for it. It is important to find something interesting and fun to do, or you will soon get bored and drop it off. Instead seeing it as another point on your “to do” list, think of it as a break that you can take to spend some time for yourself.
Find a partner. Working out regularly with a friend helps a lot! It not only helps you enjoy the time spent on your workout more, but it also makes you feel more responsible about your program. Doing your exercise together with a friend can be a great encouragement! You can also join a forum where you can interact with people who share this interest. This will help motivating you. And don’t keep your plan a secret. Telling your family and friends will help you be more serious about your goals and program and stick to it.
Set goals. Establish how many miles you want to run this week, or how many days you want to work out, how much weight you want to lose or set a goal for your waist measurement. But don’t make it too difficult. And reward yourself when you reach a goal.
Read. There are plenty of health and fitness books and magazines, websites and blogs that can provide you with lots of useful information and also motivate you to continue your workout routine. Success stories can also be very inspiring.
